First crossing of the Hardknott Pass was cloud fog but awesome for that mood. Down the other side and things got better. Thank god we were in the small car because these roads are super skinny with rock walls either side. Roger was worn out each afternoon from the driving. Got some money so was able to shout morning tea and we went into a Beatrix Potter exhibition. Famous author of children's books and very successful businesswoman and landowner she later donated huge tracts of the land to The National Trust. Roger and Glenys shouted a trip on the Ullswater Steam Ferry to Howtown Pier and they and Liz walked the 11 km back around the lake. I caught the ferry back to Glenridding and settled in at the pub to watch a bit of the cricket with England getting a lead of 411 and we wont get those !! On the way back over the passes we could see the great views but the sun was gone again
