So the main thing to do in Derry is walk around the amazing town walls built to survive cannon fire after the coming of gunpowder from China. You can see down onto lots of the city including Bogside which was the scene of the marches against internment in 1972 that led to Sunday Bloody Sunday when British troops opened fire on the crowd killing 13 and severely wounding 17 more. Inside the walls the standout is St Columbs Cathedral which had an exhibition on about the Irish involvement in Gallipoli. Since my last visit here they have built a really nice pedestrian bridge across the river dedicated to peace and called such.
