We were passing close to my ancestral village so had to check it out and so happy to report that it is drop dead gorgeous. Only 2000 people live here and it has a great history so bought the book put out by the local historical society. Didn't run into any Crowthers but lots of emails for further contacts

Game of golf at Dunbar near Edinburgh
My club at Coolangatta Tweed is reciprocal with this fine links course and they treated us like royalty. Free for everything--clubs,balls, game and lunch with drinks. I hope our club does the same in return for their members when they visit Australia. Was pleased to break 90 after 2 months without playing and Liz enjoyed the caddying and the company of local members David and Val Balfour and Graham also from our club back home.
Some East Coast surf at Sinclair Bay
I was surprised at the potential for surf coming from the North Sea in to the East Coast of Britain. This place was just as we started back down to the south
Thurso--surf capital of the deep north
we tried to get a piccie of Thurso Point but it needed another foot to be surfable. This is the home of the Annual Coldwater Classic. For the surfers following us there are heaps of wave spots up here but bring the 5mm full suit boots gloves and head cover

John O'Groats
horrible weather the first afternoon so took some photos then retired to the pub to watch the final 9 holes of the Open.3 Aussies in the 1st four so big chance but Scott did his usual fade and Jason Day couldn't get a final birdie to get into the playoff. Leishman missed a 4ft putt on the 16th to drop back into a tie and Zach Johnson sank a 60 footer on the last and won the playoff---BUGGER !!!! The rain stopped during the night and we got up for a very rare sunrise at J O' G,s so we went round to the Stacks while the going was good
GOLSPIE just north of Inverness
Just wanted a nice small town out of Inverness and this town was half an hour north and had a golf club where we could watch the last of the days play in the OPEN golf with it looking good for Aussie for tomorrows last day. It had a cute small jetty for us to freecamp at and all of this overlooked by a huge statue of The Duke of Sutherland up on the mountain out back. This statue is a cause of much arguement because this guy was responsible for booting all the people off the Highlands

LOCH NESS
Say no more one of the big mysteries but I really think that this was a prank gone wild and people could see the tourist possibilities with the story
EILEEN DONAN--the best castle you will ever see just off Skye
this is a beauty when you turn the corner and see it after coming off the bridges of Skye after a very wet morning out on the Island
