Pretty good name for this neck of the woods I guess. Built in 2006 THE S.O.M. is 110 m long and 11.4m wide and can carry max 128 passengers. We have about 110 on board and most are American reflecting its a US travel company. But obviously TravelZoo has got into Australia because there are a lot of us as well.

Nuremberg and on the boat
So the bus picked us up in Prague and transferred us to Nuremberg and the boat that will be our home for the next 7 nights and take us to Budapest along the Danube. It took 4 hours and we had a pretty good welcoming dinner and nice entertainment after before settling in and doing the tour of Nuremberg the next morning. I didn't realise the Nazi history before the war but was aware of the war crimes trials after the war finished So there was some cover of that with a look at the Colosseum like 50000 capacity rally centre that was meant to get a roof but was never finished once war began and also the Zeppelin Park where huge rallies were held. These places are not glorified in any way and sit there abandoned with just basic maintenance. Then we saw the Palace of Justice where the war crimes trials were held and these places are still working law courts with the prison out the back. But Nuremberg has a history going back 1000 years and the old parts are very interesting with a well preserved castle and town wall
Cesky Krumlov-Day tour from Prague
Our thanks to Anne and Michael Flanagan for the tip off about this place as being "a don't miss" A bit of a long drive down in the bus from Prague but a great tour with Gate One including dinner. This place is the highlight of our trip so far right up there with Bruges in Belgium. With the old medieval town on the bend in the river overlooked by the State Castle and Chateau and fabulous views from there and the garden it was special. And Michael and Anne we did have a beer at The Two Marys restaurant.
The Imperial Art Deco Hotel
Pretty nice hotel in Prague for 3 nights at the start of our Gate One tour of the Danube down to Budapest. The service and repairs to our van organized we took up residence here and explored Prague
Prague--the old town and Charles Bridge
We had a good wander around the old town centre including the Jewish quarter and town square but the highlight for us was Charles Bridge. That such a long arch bridge could be built in stone back in the 1300's. Its 650 metres long and is the symbol for Prague
Prague-the cathedral and palace
we moved into the Imperial and joined our GATE 1 tour and the 1st day was a tour of the best sights that Prague has then an optional tour to a german concentration camp and needed that like a hole in the head so we did the walk over the symbol of prague-- the 1300's 600m long stone arches bridge called the Charles Bridge. Nice day and lots of people and lots of life. This city is easy to fall for!!
