SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

The end of all the various Camino walking trails. We didn't know there were so many Ways but they all end here in this wonderful city so the place is full of fit people of all ages from all over the world. Some people like to go on to Cabo Fisterra fabled in ancient times as the end of the world when every one thought the world was flat. We found the Spanish Aires site for motorhomes and it was a 20 minute walk into the old city or a 1 euro bus ride so couldn't be simpler than that. The Cathedral is huge and under restoration and has the venerated tomb of the Disciple Santiago and we queued for an hour to see the tomb and hug the effigy to get our blessings !! Lots of buskers to liven the place up and the usual restaurants and bars. The market was pretty nice and the council has a cheap motor train that does a 3/4 hr tour round everything. If you ever go there make sure you have a meal at Casa Manolo which is the cheapest place in town and visit the Camilo Otera exhibition.

Pantin Beach

As you turn the corner and reach the open Atlantic the waves reappear and this beach is the best in the area

Punta de la Estaca de Bares

The most northern point of Spain and great little spot of Bares Porto with couple of nice sheltered beaches

Tapia de Casariego

Nice 48 hour stop for Motorhomes above a nice beach area with possible surf and place for a run for Liz. She'll have some different ones when she downloads all the ones from this trip

Cabo Vidio Lighthouse

Nice views and still on the north coast of Spain. I'm looking at some sort of mollusk that some guys took from the sea and glad to see there was an inspector there to check they had only taken the right amount

Vega Beach

read the stuff from previous post and add that the surf was crap the next morning. Always take it while its there !! You could say that about a lot of things including things like this trip.

Vega Gorge

Looking for a place to stay we found Vega and it had a nice gorge on the way in so took a few photos and had tea here before going back past the neat food storage houses and camping in the area where they said we couldn't. Hey about 50 others were as well so when in Spain do as the Spanish do !! Vega had some impressive sets  coming in that evening. Hope you can see them in the picture and the sunset was impressive to. Along time since I've seen the sun drop out of a band of cloud on the horizon. Picture doesn't do it justice
